BUCAS FREEDOM FLY SHEET

The Freedom Fly Sheet is a lightweight mesh fly rug that allows air circulate around your horse to keep them cool and prevents flies from agitating them. Full neck protection and a large tail large flap covers the areas prone to fly attacks and external cross surcingles help to protect the belly area. The Freedom Fly rug comes with the same features as the Freedom Turnout and Twill, like the fit and the overlap front closure with T-bar. It also has Silk-feel lining along the mane, whither, shoulders and chest to prevent any rubbing.
The Freedom Fly Sheet features the “Freedom Cut” fit. We consider the fit to be a “slim fit” as it is the only rug from the Bucas range that does not have shoulder darts. For this reason, narrow horses or thoroughbred type horses would take their normal size but horses that are “cob-ish” or have a wide distance from the whither to the front of the chest might find this fit a little snug!

Measurements for S-M-L-XL rugs:

If your horse measures in between these sizes you might be better getting the smaller size, as the larger size might move around more or end up pulling the rug backwards.

Waterproof & Breathable Fabric
Bucas Turnout rugs are made with waterproof and breathable fabric. In order to retain the waterproof and breathable properties of this fabric, it is essential that the washing instructions be adhered to. Please note that water may find its way inside the rug from around the edges and stitching. In most conditions this will be very limited but during heavy rainfall a considerable amount of water may run down the neck and inside the rug.
Water Repellency
Bucas waterproof and breathable fabrics have an additional water repellent outer finish, which protects the fabric and stops the outer fabric from absorbing water. This outer finish is subject to considerable weathering and wear and is also affected by washing. To restore the water-repellent property of the fabric, apply Bucas Rug Conditioner.
General Rug Care & Use
For best performance ensure that the rug is the right size for your horse. When not in use store rugs in a dry place with good ventilation.
How to measure your horse for a Bucas rug:
To provide your horse with the optimal fit, comfort and protection that it deserves, it is important to select the most appropriate rug for your horse.
When choosing a Bucas Rug, you must consider two factors
- The measurement of the horse in relation to the size of rug that it needs
- The temperature range for which the rug you choose is most suited
The following instructions outline a step-by-step approach to measuring your horse for a Bucas rug to provide an optimal fit, comfort and ease of movement.
Bucas recommends that the horse be measured from (A) the centre point of the chest, over the high point of the shoulder, and then to (B) the rear of the hind leg.
